Which Size HDTV is Right for My Room? | With standard-definition TVs, the rule used to be that viewers would feel comfortable watching a set from a distance of 3 to 6 times the screen size in inches. With HDTV, the resolution is so much better that you can sit closer to a larger TV without noticing the pixels. So with HDTVs, the rule tends to be you can sit anywhere from 1.5 to 3 times the screen size (in inches) for the best experience. If you know the size of the room you have already, where you want to sit, and where your new HDTV should go once you get it, you can figure out the size HDTV you should get. - Minimum size = Viewing distance/3
- Maximum size=Viewing distance/1.5

Great TV at an affordable price August 30, 2010 ness180 Before I purchased this TV, I had a JVC 52" rear projection TV and this is a very good upgrade. However, I'll still have uses for my JVC. I was quite concerned before purchasing this TV cause you hear all the negative things about plasma tv's(image retention/burn in etc.) and all I gotta say is don't read to much into it. My plasma has not suffered at all from image retention, even when I'm watching a channel that has a static logo.
As others have said though, this TV has a lot of glare. Mine is located in the basement so I don't have it too bad but if you can't stand having glare then I'd suggest looking at a different TV.
Also, don't shell out more money for the PK750. If you've got a PS3 or any other online connecting device, don't bother spending extra dollars for the PK750.
Great TV. Beware of the glare. August 24, 2010 Heather 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
You really can't beat this TV for the price. Love the "slim" depth. Not as slim as the really high end TV's, but it is probably half the depth of normal flat panels (get what you pay for, of course). Picture, controls, etc are great. The only thing that keeps this from a 5 star (and thanks to other reviews, I knew of it going in) is the glare. When the TV is off, its like having a mirror on the wall. OK, not that bad, but you can clearly see everything behind you in the reflection. Much less of an issue when the TV is on as it is very bright. I mounted on a wall at the 4-7 foot level. So the only thing I can see reflecting is my fan (when I am sitting). I am already used to "ignoring" looking through the fan reflection.
My only other complaint is one of the stand screws (taking off the stand to put on wall) stripped right away. I could not get it off. I had to drill it out with a bit and then I held the TV up as my father in wall beat the stand with a hammer to get it to come off. I was just happy we didn't damage the TV in the process. Be careful if you plan to take this TV off the stand multiple times. The screws are CHEAP!!
Overall, this TV is great. I love it. But if you are sensitive to glare, this is NOT the TV for you!!!!
In Heaven with My LG August 21, 2010 Ansaldi Never thought I would buy an LG. This way a great buy and meets my needs. Plus I got it wall mount through Amazon which worked out great. Picture size and quality of this Tv is unreal! Highly recommend!
Might be great if you get a good one August 21, 2010 A. Wiersch (Lantana, TX USA (near Dallas)) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I've decided to try to exchange mine. There are two big issues:
* It buzzes loud enough to hear at my normal listening position. I haven't read many complaints about this so I assume this isn't normal. UPDATE: Tightening the back screws helped reduce the buzz.
* There's a piece of lint under the glass that is annoying and distracting (see photo I uploaded). Can't really see from normal viewing position, but combined with issue #1, I'm not happy.
Good things:
* Relatively inexpensive for a 60" TV
* Does have some great picture quality, but unfortunately black level doesn't seem to be as good as my older Pioneer 5080HD, but it's still pretty good when the brightness is adjusted down a bit
* Proper viewing/processing of 24P material like Blu-ray movies
Other cons:
* Dirty/cloudy image can be seen when showing large areas of solid colors (especially white/light gray) - Can't see it on typical video though
* Relatively highly reflective screen - so windows or lights in the background could be a problem
* Questionable quality control
Other:
* My TV was manufactured in Feb 2010, even though I received it in August, 2010
UPDATE on 2010-08-26:
* My replacement came today (thanks Amazon for great service - I highly recommend you buy from them).
* The new set (also manufactured in Feb 2010, even though I ordered in August, 2010) also had buzzing and had screen defects as well, in at least 3 places (I did a white wash to see them). I did not accept this set. It also made a popping noise while doing the white wash, which concerned me.
* I'm going to keep my old set. I later learned (from messages posted on some forums) that I could significantly reduce the buzzing by tightening the screws in the back. Unfortunately the LG tech didn't know about the "screw tightening trick" and just said the buzzing was normal, but when I heard the buzzing while watching TV from my normal viewing position about 12.5 feet away, I decided that amount of buzzing couldn't be normal. I've since reduced the buzzing by tightening the screws. The buzzing is still there, but it's not so bad anymore.
I'm sticking with my 3 star rating because of the quality control issues with this set, the buzzing, and the highly reflective screen, but it can produce some great picture quality.
Everything I expected and more July 25, 2010 Falcons I don't like typing. But the reviews I read are what helped me decide on what to buy so I'm returning the favor...This TV is probably one of the best deals out there as far as quality and price. I had some friends come over and they raved about the picture. Yrs ago alot of bad reviews came out on Plasma TV's. But it appears that soooooo far. Thats been corrected. If you're only interested in TV and NOT connecting it to the internet. Then the 550, Not the 750 is the one you want...I'm happy!
